Greetings from the Pine Tree State. My name is Jason I live in a
small town in the middle of the State Called Newport. Just about
perfectly centered between Waterville and Bangor Maine. If you where to
look at a Map of Maine and follow I-95 North from Waterville, just as
the turnpike makes a right turn towards Bangor that is where Newport
resides.
Newport has a very interesting  history about it. Between 1886 and
1916, Camp Benson on lake Sebasticook was a popular summer destination
for civil war veterans and their families. The families arrived in
Newport by train, walked four blocks to the wharf, then boarded a
steamer to cross the Lake. The camp was know for its baseball games and
dances on the special floor that was built over the lake. Today there is
nothing left but a few markers and a formation of trees that once lined
 the road.
Here are a few pics of Camp Benson point.
